James Live @ State Ballroom, Liverpool, 1983-03-23

JAMES, Liverpool State Ballroom, England, 1983-03-23
Thanks to swintonboy for sharing the audio files

Setlist:
1 Stutter
2 If Things Were Perfect
3 What's The World
4 Vulture
5 A Lovely Day For Life
6 Discipline
7 We're On Fire
8 Skullduggery
9 Chain Mail
10 Withdrawn
11 Fire So Close

This is probably the earliest James live recording in circulation, with original guitarist Paul Gilbertson in the band and Larry Gott still performing the job as their guitar teacher (and possibly recording this gig). This show is a support slot for New Order, with whom the band had become friendly in Liverpool. It features James at their most wild and frantic. It also features the unreleased Discipline, We're On Fire and A Lovely Day For Life (which may, or not, be the end section of Vulture) and the live classic, but never studio released, Stutter that James resurrected on their recent December 2008 tour.
